Beverly Hills, CA - The Beverly Hills Hotel, once featured on the Eagles “Hotel California” album, and now owned by the Brunei Investment Agency is now flying the Mexican flag next to the American flag above the hotel. http://www.thebeverlyhillshotel.com/hotel_location/index.html
The official statement from employees claim flying the Mexican flag is historical and contractual since the land was owned by the Mexican government.
The Beverly Hills hotel was built in 1912. California became part of the United States on September 9, 1850 - over a half century before the hotel was built. Furthermore the hotel was designed by a Pasadena, CA architect and managed by an American family.
The hotel is famous for playing host to Hollywood’s biggest celebrities such as Judy Garland, Charlie Chaplin, Lucille Ball, Robin Williams, Robert De Niro, Brad Pitt, and Angelina Jolie.
After several calls and emails to the hotel, the hotel is still maintaining this is Mexican soil and the flag is flying to honor the historical importance.
Save Our State is now discussing a possible protest in front of the famous Beverly Hills Hotel.
