Editorial: Just Slap Me
“Comprehensive immigration reform” is the anti-legal immigrant approach to solving illegal immigration. Any type of amnesty is a slap in the face to legal immigrants who have abided by immigration policies and procedures and not only rewards lawlessness, but is an open invitation for continued bad behavior in the future.

History has proven the amnesties don’t work because placing law-breakers on a path to citizenship reinforces the idea the many wrongs do ultimately make make a right. Even worse, this kind of wrong-headed approach to reforming the immigration system jeopardizes homeland security efforts and ignores the rule of law.

The source of this problem are the employers who hire unauthorized workers in the first place. The solution is to draft laws that make certain that employers use e-verify. Simply requiring employers to use the I-9 form is where the system has fallen short for many years.
